Oakley Home Builders Partners with Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare Society

Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare is a society of women who have made a commitment to the well being of Glen Ellyn’s children. Through its community service projects and fund-raising efforts, this society serves as an important link between children in need and the community.


Oakley Home Builders is pleased to be participating in The Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare's upcoming fundraiser, The 28th Annual Housewalk.  The Annual Housewalk will be held on May 11th and is a sold out event with 1,500 tickets sold.  The Housewalk is an integral fundraiser for Glen Ellyn every year.  Ryan and Jodee Dunham,  co-owners of Oakley Home Builders, are displaying their beautiful Nantucket designed home as a part of the The Glen Ellyn Housewalk.

In addition, Oakley Home Builders is hosting a "Casino Night" fundraising party at the home on Saturday,  May 12th and will be donating all proceeds to the Infant Welfare Society.  Oakley Home Builders is proud to part of such an important event that benefits Glen Ellyn and it's residents.

"For the past three summers, the gracious Nantucket-style home in tiny Long Beach, Indiana, has been the site of barbecues, beachside football games and giggle-filled sleepovers for as many as 27 children. (Judy and her husband, Mike, bring two kids to the mix; Dawn and her husband, Steve, bring four.) When the families bought the three-story house, however, it looked as if its best days were in the rearview mirror. Past rehabs had stripped much of its charm. In short, it was perfect.

"I love houses that have a great lot and beautiful architecture that I can spray my fairy dust on and make phenomenal," says Dawn, who confesses to being a serial house renovator in addition to a real estate agent. "I've turned lemons into lemonade several times." Both families had vacationed on Lake Michigan for years, so buying this waterfront house was a dream come true."

It's A Small Oakley Home Builders World

Imagine sitting at an airport bar and having a gentleman sit down next to you, happens everyday, right?  This is exactly the story our Oakley Home Builders' client called to relay to us.  Only her story didn't have the normal ending.

She was sitting at the bar with the bartender asking her questions.  She related that she was moving yet again.  After being asked where she had previously lived, she indicated that one of those spots was Chicago.  The gentleman next to her asked passively, "Where in Chicago?"  Our client replied, "Downers Grove."  He stated that he too lived in Downers Grove.  Our client said that she loved Downers and he replied that he did as well.  She asked what street he lived on.  He replied, "Washington Street."  She looked at him and without hesitation said the house number she had previously resided in.  The blank stare was all she needed for validation...he had purchased her Oakley Home Builders home from her close to two years ago.

After being shellshocked by the fact that they had lived in the same home and the odds of sitting next to each other in a Houston airport, they began to talk about the home.  Both gushed about the home and it's attributes.  Both loved the quality of the workmanship of the home and it's prime location.  The nantucket style home is a dream home for both of them and they always tell others about the great experience of living in the home.

We are proud that our home was the focal point of such a chance meeting and elated they both loved the home so much.
