The Living Room Fireplace

The living room fireplace is very necessary for those of us who live in a cold and damp area.  The fireplace not only adds a focal point to the room, but it also contributes to a warmer look and feel.  There are many types of designs for the fireplace. With clean, straight lines, plenty of polish and very little clutter, modern design is more popular now than ever.

Snuggling just became incredibly chic. A fireplace in the  always takes "cozy" to a whole new level, but with clean lines, ample space and Oakley Home Builders does it in the most sleek and modern way.

Adding wood and stone or mixed tiles is a way to freshen up the fireplace.   The fresh approach with this hearth and fireplace in two shades of stone. Beautiful accessories line the mantel to tie the whole look together.

At Oakley Home Builders, we focus on the details so you will be able to spend the rest of your life in a cozy dream home.

Oakley Home Builders - Modern and Contemporary Living

A common misconception is that modern and contemporary homes are stark and cold. Nothing could be further from the truth; this architecture may encourage one to cut down on clutter, but rustic accents, warm wood finishes and soft neutral tones add comfort and warmth to these spaces.

Oakley Home Builders recently completed a modern/contemporary home in Downers Grove.  To preserve the wooded garden and feeling of a private oasis, the large yard and trees were a must. The result celebrates modern design while keeping some of the character of the parklike setting.

Large contemporary windows let in the view while wood floors, wood trimwork and ceiling beams add comfort and a sense of history.  Accents like this stone fireplace surround bring organic elements indoors. Meanwhile, architectural choices give the home it's modern edge.

Granite countertops, dark wood cabinets and unique earth-toned tiles create a wonderful modern-rustic mashup in the kitchen.  Oakley Home Builders created a more contemporary feel with wood and stone materials adding a strong contrast to the creamy white painted drywall.

As with every Oakley Home Builders home, we pay attention to the details.  We believe a client's dream can be played out beautifully in every home.  Contact Oakley Home Builders today to begin building your dream home.

Randall Park neighborhood is a wonderful place in which to live!!!!  There are, simply, a lot of good people who really give back to the community and have fun while doing so!  Throughout the year, there are many great activities organized by neighbors such as an Easter Egg Hunt, Soap Box Derby, block parties, progressive dinners and gorgeous luminaria at the holidays.  We are truly "the envy" of many great neighborhoods in Downers Grove with our parks, close proximity to Barth Pond, the "Y" and Downers Grove Swim & Racquet Club.

Our families organize benefits not only for our school, community and churches, but also for local families and friends in need i.e. the Van Houton's:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?

Oakley Home Builders Wins HBAGC Key Award For The 3rd Consecutive Year

Oakley Home Builders was recognized for the third time at the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards Dinner.  Oakley Home Builders was honored for “Excellence in New Construction: Custom Home 3,501 -4,300 sq. ft.” for our home at 1400 Bonnie Brae, River Forest.

This incredible cape inspired home gives new meaning to the word “Estate.” Our magnificent custom home on an extra-wide lot in River Forest boasts 5 bedrooms, 5 and a half baths.  It includes both a finished attic and finished basement for a more spacious living environment.

Our new homeowners decided to build a custom home in historic River Forest. The home style is a craftsman and European mix with a traditional feel.  We asked Shannon why she chose this style of home.  “The home has a traditional feel with modern touches that meet a young families needs, open floor plan, 2nd floor laundry, mud room, play room and more.  At the same time the home has elegant touches for the adults to enjoy such as a wine cellar with wine tasting area, wet bar, exercise room, sun room and a luxurious theater room. Everything is top notch.”

We also asked about how the couple found Oakley Home Builders.  They stated that they found OHB by searching the Internet for custom homebuilders in Chicago.  “I was looking first at builder’s websites to see if they had pictures of homes they had built, and then contacted the ones that I felt had the style of home we were looking to build.  We chose OHB because we loved the homes they built; it was exactly the type of home we wanted.  Their homes are elegant but not too fancy.  They are homes with classic, traditional feels, and with modern touches.  We found that once we walked into their homes, we immediately fell in love with them and felt at home.”

Besides the style of home, the couple stated they loved Oakley Home Builders dedication to green building techniques.  OHB’s use of green technology included the saving of selected existing trees on the home site. This home features many green elements that Oakley Home Builders places in all of their homes. These items included Energy Star rated appliances, HVAC equipment, and bath fans as well as a heavily upgraded blown in fiber insulation package, highly energy efficient appliances, and windows and doors that conserve energy were used in the construction of the home as well.

The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago Key Awards were created in 1972 to recognize excellence in housing design, architecture, interior merchandising, remodeling and landscaping. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country.
